A new dining destination has opened at Red to complement the center’s existing food offerings. The restaurants in the first phase of the new Food Port concept focus specifically on street food.
The Red shopping center’s dining options were expanded in November with the new Food Port restaurant complex. Located on the first floor at street level, the complex comprises 11 restaurants.
The restaurant complex meets the needs of the growing Kalasatama district and Redi’s large number of visitors. It features both familiar names from elsewhere and newer additions.
“Food Port is the culmination of our major three-year development project, and it’s great to finally be able to show the general public everything we’ve planned. The Kalasatama area is developing rapidly, so it’s fantastic to be able to meet the growing demand for services,” says Anne Simonen, Senior Leasing Manager at Red.
Sustainability at the Core
The design of Food Port is based on the LEED Platinum sustainability certification awarded to the shopping center and the criteria it sets. For example, the construction made the most of existing structures, and eco-friendly considerations guided the interior design choices.
Asian flavors are strongly represented in the restaurants of the 500-seat Food Port complex, but more traditional flavors are also featured.

The Asian side is represented, for example, by Crazy Bing, which serves Chinese street food; Momotoko, which focuses on ramen and noodles; and Oppa Korean BBQ, which specializes in Asian fusion cuisine. Espresso House has also opened its doors in the space—the chain also has a café on the second floor.
High-quality dining options for a variety of needs
The restaurant scene will expand in spring 2024, when approximately eight new restaurants will open at the location. At that time, the selection will focus particularly on dinner restaurants, which, according to Red’s goal, will also be open outside the shopping center’s regular hours.
Food Port will also feature Skidi Port, a space designed for families with children, centered around a carousel.
“We have high expectations for Food Port and believe it will grow into an exceptionally interesting and ambitious food hub that will attract visitors from far and wide,” Simonen notes.
