THE ZONING AMENDMENT FOR THE COMMUNITY CENTER TO BE DEVELOPED JOINTLY BY KALASATAMAN PALVELU OY AND KALASATAMAN PALVELU 2 OY WAS APPROVED ON JUNE 8, 2021
The zoning amendment 12693 for the community center, planned as a joint project by Kalasataman Palvelu Oy and Kalasataman Palvelu 2 Oy,has been approved by the City of Helsinki’s Urban Environment Committee on June 8, 2021. The zoning amendment will be finalized unless appeals are filed within the appeal period. The community center will be located in Kalasatamanpuisto Park at the corner of Parrulaituri and Koksikatu.
The amendment to the zoning plan will enable the construction of a communal celebration and recreational space for Kalasatama residents, with a floor area of approximately 1,200 square meters.
The planned community center will be developed jointly by Kalasataman Palvelu Oy, the service company for the Sörnäistenniemi area, and Kalasataman Palvelu 2 Oy, the service company for Sompasaari and Verkkosaari. In the project plan currently being developed for the community center, the facilities will include, among other things, various celebration spaces, multipurpose spaces for exercise and recreational activities, a private sauna available to residents, and restaurant facilities. The estimated cost of the entire construction project is approximately 3–4 million euros.
Once the project plan is complete, the intention is to launch a competitive bidding process for the plans (ARK, LVISA, RAK).
