As part of the 2017 comprehensive assessment and development project for shared courtyards, the annual repair needs of the shared courtyards were also surveyed, and the work identified by the survey will be carried out in late summer 2018. Work has already begun in some courtyards, and the goal is to complete all annual repairs during August and September.
The following repairs are on the to-do list, listed by block:
Trokari
-Two trees felled by a severe storm in the summer of 2017 will be replaced with new ones, and one damaged yard tree will be replaced with a new one.
-Mountain pine plantings, ground cover, and mulch will be replenished.
-Structural pruning will be performed on the trees.
Stevari
-Repairs to safety surfaces in play areas.
-Straightening of the steps leading to the courtyard.
-Replenishment of shrubs, groundcover, and wood chips.
-Renewal of the planting area adjacent to the Leonkatu ramp.
– Raising the fence along the central courtyard path to protect the slope plantings; repairing the slope plantings.
– Installing a guide wire for the climbing plants on the Leonkatu ramp.
-Protecting one circular tree planting bed by raising the fence.
-Structural pruning will be performed on the trees.
Stuuvari
-Filling the joints in the paving at the eastern end of the courtyard.
-Repositioning displaced wall stones at the eastern end of the courtyard.
-Replacing the tree that was removed from the planting bed on Antareksenkatu due to damage with a new one.
-Restoring the perennial areas in the courtyard’s planting beds.
-Structural pruning of trees.
Junkki
-Straightening of trees that have grown crooked and replacement of one tree.
-Replenishing and protecting the groundcover and mulch in the two planting beds on Polariksenkatu with a low fence to ensure growth.
-Compacting the stone dust surface installed in fall 2017 and replenishing it as needed to ensure the new surface settles properly.
-Structural pruning will be performed on the trees.
Fiskari
-Replacing three unhealthy trees at the east end with new ones.
-Structural pruning will be performed on the trees.
–In addition to the annual maintenance needs handled by the service company, there are deficiencies in the groundcover of the planting beds and in the finishing of the northern edge of the yard. These matters will be discussed with the yard contractor to determine responsibility, and the deficiencies will be corrected without delay once responsibility for the repairs has been clarified.
Kippari and Dirika
–Due to the newness of the courtyards, no need for annual repairs has been identified.
In addition to the annual repair work described above, routine maintenance and repair work is, of course, also carried out in the common courtyards.
