The restaurant in Korkeasaari’s new entrance building offers seafood cuisine and a seaside atmosphere to both passersby and zoo visitors.
The renovated Bistro Bron opened its doors on December 1, 2025, in the new entrance building at Korkeasaari Zoo. The maritime character of the wooden building is reflected not only in its waterfront location but also in the restaurant’s menu.
Focus on vegetarian and seafood dishes
“The entire Bistro Bron atmosphere has been revitalized and invites both passersby and fishing harbor locals to enjoy the moment at the renovated restaurant,” says Markku Peltola-Antell, CEO of Marcante, the company behind Bistro Bron and other Korkeasaari restaurants.
Peltola-Antell explains that the restaurant’s lunch menu and its à la carte menu will launch in early February and will be available every day throughout the spring. During this time, the restaurant will serve daily-changing home-style dishes and a generous salad bar where you can choose the main ingredient yourself. Before that, the menu will feature items from the display case, warm bread, and tomato soup.
The menu emphasizes vegetable and fish dishes, and the offerings also include options specifically for children.
There are plans to expand the restaurant’s outdoor seating area: currently, the restaurant has seating for 80 guests and a private dining room for 40, and this spring, a 35-seat terrace will open, offering views toward Mustikkamaa and Kalasatama.
In the future, the restaurant will be accessible from three different directions
The restaurant is currently accessible via both the Finkensilta Bridge, which opened in August, and from the Mustikkamaa side. When the bridge between Kruunuvuorenranta and Korkeasaari opens in the spring of 2026, the restaurant will be accessible from three directions: the original Mustikkamaa Bridge, the Finkensilta Bridge, and the Kruunuvuorenranta Bridge.
The restaurant is open according to Korkeasaari’s hours, and as the season picks up in May and June, the hours will be extended.
Peltola-Antell encourages everyone to visit the new Bistro Bron: “The new facilities are wonderful, with all their amenities. It’s a great place to come with children, friends, or even your furry pet to enjoy a good meal or a cup of coffee.”
The restaurant is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., in accordance with Korkeasaari’s hours of operation. The lunch menu and the seafood-focused à la carte menu are available daily from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. starting in early February through spring. The private dining room can be reserved for private events. Children under 10 and seniors receive a discount at the restaurant.
