Little Lounge inspires children to be creative and learn – opening in early 2026

Little Lounge, which will open in Kalasatama in early 2026, will provide spaces for children’s recreational activities and learning.

Crafts, art classes, home economics camps, and birthday parties—these are just some of the activities offered at the facility opening in Kalasatama Little Lounge. The facility will open in January 2026, when the first courses will get underway.

Behind the company are friends Riina Laiho and Melissa Kadmiry, whose goal is to provide an inspiring space for children’s activities. “We want to offer a cozy, aesthetically pleasing space that fosters creativity—a place where families can take a break from their busy daily lives,” Kadmiry explains.

There is demand in the area for activities tailored to children and families

The idea for a business like Little Lounge originated years ago, according to the company. Kadmiry and Laiho both have young children, and for years, Laiho’s long-held dream in particular has been to open a daycare center. “The well-being of families with children is at the heart of everything we do,” Kadmiry states.

According to the founders, there is demand in Kalasatama for activities specifically targeted at families and children that would make everyday life easier and provide a pleasant setting for leisure and diverse learning.

The primary target group for Little Lounge’s activities is elementary school-aged children, but there are also activities and opportunities for younger and older children to spend time there. “The space isn’t just there to support children’s daily lives, but also their parents’,” Kadmiry explains, noting that Little Lounge aims to help break up the monotony of daily routines—such as screen time—in its own small way. “Hopefully, our services will make things a little easier for families,” she notes.

“Learning can be fun and an enriching experience”

In January, Little Lounge will launch art classes for children of preschool and elementary school age, organized by age group. Kadmiry says that two art courses are already fully booked. The art school is led by Little Lounge’s art instructor Emma Rapala. A home economics camp is also being planned for winter break, and an instructor has already been hired.

Kadmiry explains that Little Lounge’s activities focus on children’s self-expression and creativity with a relaxed yet professional approach. The company’s goal is to provide both big and small moments that children can look back on fondly as they grow up.

“We want to encourage children to experiment, explore, and express themselves through crafts and home economics. Learning doesn’t have to be a chore—it can be fun and an enriching experience,” says Kadmiry.
