The traditional Kattilahalli flea market will be held as a two-day event in May 2025.
A flea market takes place once a month at Kattilahalli in Suvilahti, usually on Sundays. The Kattilahalli Flea Market has been held since 2014, until it was suspended during the pandemic and revived by new organizers in 2024.
Today, the event is organized by OPSHOP Helsinki, which operates a self-service flea market in Hietalahti, Helsinki, and Patricia Petchenenko. The May event will, exceptionally, last two days.
The revamped event emphasizes crafts and art
According to the organizer, the event is unique in the region. “There is no other event of this type in Helsinki that offers over 100 flea market stalls on Saturday and Sunday, as well as other interesting content,” says Petchenenko.
The event was redesigned so that, in addition to traditional vendors, there is a separate section dedicated to offerings from artisans and small business owners. The theme of each event has been slightly different; for example, the March vendors emphasized vintage items. In May, the loft will feature LP record vendors and other products from small business owners.
“There isn’t a flea market event of this type in Helsinki on Saturdays and Sundays.”

We aim for a wide variety of offerings, and there are currently 23 permanent sales spots available for artisans at the event. “Whenever a new event is approaching, we open up the application process, which ensures that all artisans and small business owners have an equal opportunity to be represented at the event,” Petchenenko explains.
In March, the Art Wall art installation was created on the wall of Kattilahalli for the first time, with the goal of providing a space to experience art in various settings.
The event will continue toward the end of the year
The event set a new attendance record in March, with a total of 4,500 visitors.
Two flea market events are scheduled for late 2025, one in October and the other in November. According to Petchenenko, the artists for the upcoming events have already been selected.
The sales booths are located on two floors, with a total of 140 spots available. Stalls can be reserved through the OPSHOP Helsinki reservation system.
