Housing Company Introduction
As Oy Helsingin Vinsentiaukio 4 is located in the block between the Sompasaari Pier and Kaljaasi Fortunankatu, bordering the Nihdinka Canal.
The residential building consists of two wing-like structures, each with elevators, and has 6 and 8 stories, respectively. Common areas, storage spaces, and commercial spaces are located on the first floor. The 8th floor features a communal sauna area and a clubroom with a balcony. Parking spaces are located in the parking garage beneath the communal courtyard. The block’s waste collection point is at the level of the communal courtyard.
Residential units are located on floors 2–8. The second floor is at the level of the shared courtyard. All apartments have a glass-enclosed balcony or a French balcony. The design concept is based on the expansive views from the apartments toward Vinsentinaukio and Nihdinkanava, as well as on utilizing the courtyard in a way that enhances the comfort of living.
The facades are constructed of clean-faced brick, with the shade, laying pattern, and treatment of the bricks varying from section to section of the building. Parts of the facades are clad with metal elements coated in metallic-sheen shades.
Subtle indentations in the brickwork, variations in materials, and the arched openings on the southwest facade enrich the building’s otherwise systematic appearance.
