Flow Festival will continue in Suvilahti in 2024

Due to construction delays, Flow Festival will be held in Suvilahti again this year. Once again, the festival will feature a wide range of artists from both Finland and abroad.

The hugely popular Flow Festival music event will still be held at its previous location in 2024. This is due to delays in construction work in the area resulting from complaints related to the zoning plan, which the City of Helsinki announced in 2023.

According to the original plan, the 2024 festival would have been moved to a new location, but due to delays in the area’s construction, the event organizers are still using Suvilahti. This year’s event will take place August 9–11.

“After receiving word from the city that construction work had been postponed, we began to reassess the situation from Flow’s perspective. Now that this has been confirmed, we are pleased to

announce that Flow’s story in Suvilahti will continue and that the festival will be held at its familiar location again in the summer of 2024,” says Flow Festival’s artistic director Tuomas Kallio in a press release.

Flow Festival Celebrates Its 20th Anniversary

Flow Festival, which has grown in popularity over the years, will celebrate its 20th anniversary in 2024. As usual, the lineup features both international and Finnish artists. Headliners for the weekend include Janelle Monáe, RAYE, PJ Harvey, and Pulp, as well as Finnish acts Vesta and Karri Koira. In total, there will be over 150 artists performing at the event.

“We are delighted to celebrate Flow Festival’s 20th anniversary in Suvilahti, which has become such an integral part of the festival’s identity. The Suvilahti setting is internationally recognized as a unique venue, so we hope the area’s development will continue to be favorable for culture and events,” says Eeva Palmén, Head of Communications at Flow Festival .

Construction work is expected to continue in the area, so the festival’s future location remains to be seen. The festival organizers note that plans for the coming years will be finalized at a later date.

The City of Helsinki aims to stick to its original plan for the development of Suvilahti as part of its urban strategy, even if the timelines are delayed. Plans for the area include a year-round event venue with both indoor and outdoor spaces.

More information about the event’s program and tickets is available on the Flow Festival website. The minimum age for the event is 18. The festival encourages visitors to arrive by public transportation, on foot, or by bike.
