Activities for Children and Teens at the Kalasatama Library

Weekly events and activities are available for children and teens throughout the fall of 2024.

 

Opened in 2023, Kalasatama Library serves families with children and young people in particular. Located in Redi, the library serves as a meeting place for a wide variety of free activities.

“Through our activities, we want to support the well-being of children and young people in the area,” said Library Director Erna Marttila at the opening of the Kalasatama Library.

 

Kids’ Nights on Thursdays

During Kids’ Nights, children under school age are offered group activities with a parent. The program includes, for example, bedtime stories, movies, and crafts. 

The program begins at 5:30 p.m., and the duration varies depending on the activity. Kids’ Nights continue through November 28.

 

A wide variety of events are held at the library.

 

NOT – A space just for teens on Wednesdays 

A space just for teens is open from 5 p.m. onward for teens to play games or socialize, either alone or with friends. The event is intended for 13- to 17-year-olds. Activities include, for example, the PlayStation 5 console or board games. A staff member dedicated to working with youth will be on site. 

The youth space is open on Wednesdays from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and will run through November 27.

 

Afternoon activities for schoolchildren on Fridays

On Fridays, a variety of afternoon activities. Activities include crafts, games, and other activities based on the children’s requests. The library staff is in charge of the activities. 

Afternoon activities for schoolchildren will continue through November 29. 

 

All events are free of charge. In addition, the library will host a wide variety of events throughout the fall, such as poetry readings. You can follow the library’s events on its Facebook pages.  The Kalasatama Library is located on the 2nd floor of the Redi Shopping Center.
