The five street-side trash bin assemblies installed by Kalasataman Palvelu Oy in January 2016 for shared courtyards have aged and are in need of routine maintenance and repairs; In addition, some of the bins have been found to have issues with the durability of their paint finish.
The service company has decided to replace all the old bins with new, equivalent ones made of a new type of steel that is more resistant to the marine environment. After the replacement, even the previously installed collection points will have the same fresh and well-maintained appearance as the new collection points now being installed in the shared courtyards. Replacing the bins instead of maintaining and repairing them also eliminates the need for service interruptions in curbside waste collection. The replacement is scheduled to take place at the end of April 2019.
