Construction of the Talas community center will continue throughout 2025.
Work continues at the Talas community center, one of the newest buildings in Kalasatama. In September 2025, exterior facade work will be carried out on the building, along with interior finishing work. Construction beganat the corner of Koksikatu and Parrulaituri at the beginning of the year.
Once completed, the community club will be available to residents of Kalasatama and the area’s service companies. The building will house, among other things, remote work spaces, event and meeting rooms, and a sauna.
Facade work and building services installations
Currently, facade work is underway to construct an outdoor terrace offering a view of the sea. In the future, users of the Talas sauna, among others, will be able to enjoy the terrace. In addition, landscaping work will soon begin as part of the construction project.
Inside, the interior finishing phase is underway, which includes, for example, building services work as well as the installation of suspended ceilings, wall coverings, and flooring.
Site Manager Jani Miettinen says that work has generally progressed as expected, although there has been a slight delay in the schedule. The building will be completed as planned before Christmas 2025.
Kalasatama’s first community club space
The Talas building was designed by AOR Architects, which won the design competition in 2022. The name “Talas” refers to a boat shed, and the design takes into account the shared clubhouse’s historic, maritime location.
Talas is the first community clubhouse building for service companies to be built in the extensive Kalasatama residential area. In the future, a second shared clubhouse will also be built in the Hermanninranta zoning area.
Construction of Talas began at the start of the year, and its foundation stone-laying ceremony was held at the end of January. The premises will be furnished and equipped during January 2026, and according to current estimates, the building’s opening ceremony will be celebrated in early 2026.
D shares collected from the developers and shareholder communities of Kalasataman Palvelu Oy and Kalasataman Palvelu 2 Oy—collected from developers and shareholder groups—for Class D shares subscriptionand membership fees collected from the developers and shareholder groups of Kalasataman Palvelu Oy and Kalasataman Palvelu 2 Oy—which were collected for the implementation of the communal club space—are, as things stand, sufficient to cover the completion of the Talas property project . Therefore, the project’s financing does not require any additional investments.
For use by the shareholder associations of the area’s service companies
Residents can reserve various spaces through the booking system to be launched on the Fisuverkko portal; more detailed instructions on booking will be provided later. The facilities are available to residents and shareholders of service companies within the contract areas of Kalasataman Palvelu Oy and Kalasataman Palvelu Oy 2 shareholder associations (including housing cooperatives) within the contract areas of Kalasataman Palvelu Oy and Kalasataman Palvelu Oy 2.
The contract area covers, among others, the following areas: Sörnäistenniemi, Sompasaari, Nihti, the southern and northern parts of Verkkosaari, Hermanninranta, Kyläsaari, and Hanasaari. The residential towers in the Kalasatama center, however, are not included in the contract areas.
