A traditional Christmas market will be held at the slaughterhouse on December 17–18—featuring more than 80 vendors

The Teurastamo Christmas Market, which has grown in popularity, is being held for the ninth time this year. There will be over 80 vendors on site, offering delicacies, handicrafts, and unique designs, among other things.

The Christmas spirit will fill Kellohalli and the Teurastamo area this year on December 17–18, the weekend before Christmas. The Christmas market, which has already become a tradition, brings together products from both Finnish and international entrepreneurs and artists.

The theme is a smooth-running and diverse market

“This year, we’re focusing on making the market run smoothly and offering a diverse selection. A new feature of the event is that the space has been divided into themed areas,” according to Teurastamo’s communications team. This makes it easier to navigate the area and explore what’s on offer.

The selection at Kellohalli Market Hall caters to a variety of Christmas needs, for both practical and recreational use. Joulumaa—also known as Kellohalli—features artisanal products and other items perfect for gifts. Herkkustudio, located in the Flavour Studio space, features—as its name suggests—Christmas treats. The Palema Design and Art section for art lovers is located at the Palema restaurant.

This year’s lineup also includes a timely addition: the Kohta Gallery will host the pop-up art shop NO PUTIN NO, with proceeds going to Ukraine.

Food and drinks while you shop

In addition to Teurastamo’s familiar restaurants, visitors can enjoy pop-up restaurants and cafés that open for the duration of the market. Among others, the popular Jädelino is waking up from its winter slumber and will keep its doors open for the duration of the market.

The program caters to visitors of all ages: In addition to a Christmas tree stand, the courtyard area offers the youngest members of the family the chance to enjoy a fun pony ride.

Teurastamo encourages visitors to seek not only gifts but also inspiration for Christmas decorations: “We offer gift ideas ranging from jewelry to accessories and toys, as well as from wooden items to pot holders, from cut flowers to candles and paper crafts, and of course a wide variety of delicacies.”

The full list of vendors and program details can be found on the Teurastamo website and the Facebook event.
