Helsingin kaupungin asunnot Oy (Heka) is building new apartments in Kalasatama. The new development will be completed in the fall of 2023.
New apartments by Helsingin kaupungin asunnot Oy (Heka) will be built at 6 Kaljaasi Fortuna Street in Kalasatama in November 2023. The application period for the apartments began in June.
The development comprises a total of 71 apartments, ranging in size from studios to four-room apartments. It is located in the Johanna block in Sompasaari, where the Sompasaari daycare center is also being built.
Kaljaasi Fortuna Street 6 is a joint “Energy Pilot” project between the City of Helsinki’s Housing Production Department, Heka, and Helen. The buildings will feature ventilation and wastewater heat recovery systems, solar panels on the roofs, and solar-powered glass in the stairwells and, in some cases, on the facades.
All apartments are designed to be accessible and feature barrier-free entrances. The building has two stairwells with elevators, both of which are accessible from the street. The stairwells also provide barrier-free access to the parking garage and the shared courtyard built on top of the garage.The lead designer for the project is Asko Takala from the architectural firm Kirsti Sivén & Asko Takala Architects Ltd..
